Philippines Anti-Human Trafficking Act: Impact & Implications

ActiveFence works to detect human exploitation operations online. We counter human trafficking for sex and labor, organ trafficking, and illegal adoption. We assist our partners (social media, e-commerce, and web hosting platforms), to identify networks seeking to carry out these criminal and dangerous activities. At the same time, we monitor changing legislation and provide our clients with advice on how to comply in an international context.

This report provides a summary of the Philippines’ Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act, which came into effect in June 23, 2022. The expansive act sets out the actions required of internet and financial intermediaries active in the Philippines, and sets out serious penalties for individuals at major companies that fail to act.
