Inside the partnership bringing real-time, multi-modal synthetic media detection to the heart of GenAI safety infrastructure.

As the threat landscape around generative AI (GenAI) evolves, enterprises are facing a surge in risks stemming from synthetic media. Threat actors are using GenAI tools to create convincing, scalable impersonation and deception schemes. These include voice clones used in social engineering, manipulated images on social platforms, and deepfaked video impersonations targeting executives.

Traditional moderation tools are no longer enough. To keep pace with the speed and sophistication of these attacks, organizations need integrated, multi-layered safety systems that can detect, prevent, and respond in real time. This requires a shift toward safety-by-design frameworks, embedding protection mechanisms directly into GenAI infrastructure from the start, rather than relying on reactive fixes.

To meet this need, ActiveFence has partnered with Reality Defender, whose newly launched API brings broad, accessible deepfake detection across modalities. Combined with ActiveFence’s Real-time Guardrails, the integration delivers seamless, real-time protection against synthetic threats across video, audio, image, and text.

Built for Enterprise: ActiveFence + Reality Defender

Through this integration, our enterprise customers can extend their safety infrastructure to include deepfake detection as part of their existing Guardrails setup. Here’s how it works:

  • Real-time moderation: All incoming content, whether video, audio, image, or text, is scanned through Reality Defender’s API during Guardrails processing.
  • Instant enforcement: When synthetic media is detected, Guardrails can trigger custom actions such as flagging the session, blocking the content, or escalating it to a moderator.
  • Centralized visibility: All detection events, including deepfakes, appear in the same Guardrails dashboard used to monitor issues like hallucinations, PII exposure, jailbreak attempts, and abuse.

This is not a stand-alone feature. It is built into the safety infrastructure that powers some of the most trusted GenAI applications in production.

Why This Matters

Synthetic media threats are becoming common across online platforms. These threats are now used to scam users, compromise systems, and undermine trust.

This partnership offers enterprise-grade defenses to:

  • Protect against impersonation and fraud. Stop voice and video-based scams before they reach users.
  • Stay ahead of compliance requirements. Align with regulatory frameworks like the EU AI Act and the NIST Generative AI Profile by implementing detection and provenance tools.
  • Maintain visibility and control. Monitor authenticity signals alongside other safety layers within a single, unified observability system.

Together, ActiveFence and Reality Defender provide a multi-layered solution that supports detection, moderation, and real-time enforcement.

What It Looks Like in Practice

Synthetic media threats often appear in contexts where authenticity is critical, such as user-submitted documents, identity claims, or financial communications. In this example, a falsified bank statement is flagged in real time by the Guardrails engine using integrated deepfake detection.

This kind of proactive detection is especially valuable for high-risk sectors like finance, where even a single piece of manipulated content can lead to fraud, policy violations, or regulatory exposure.

A Smarter Approach to Safety

Reality Defender and ActiveFence are both built on the belief that AI can be powerful and safe, but only when backed by strong, adaptable, and transparent defenses.

By embedding deepfake detection directly into our Guardrails stack, we’re helping enterprises build trust with their users, meet emerging regulatory requirements, and confidently scale GenAI experiences.

We’re thrilled to welcome Reality Defender into our safety ecosystem! (and we’re just getting started…)
